Its origin is a little obscure, but it comes either from the Mediterranean basin or Central Asia. It has been used for a good 5,000 years. It is widely present in our kitchens because it goes very well with meats, fish (especially salmon), dressings and salads. It is also used in many spice blends, among others for steak and fish. In infusion it acts as a stimulant for the digestive system.
